Your Details

If your tenant is 8 weeks or more in arrears with their rent, Regulation 95 of the Housing Benefit Regulations 2006 allows for payment of Housing Benefit to be made direct to the landlord.

You will need to provide evidence that the tenant is in 8 weeks or more rent arrears. The evidence you provide must prove the total amount of rent arrears outstanding.

We will notify you of our decision as soon as possible. Please note that if you cannot provide evidence, there will be a delay before a decision can be made.

Please be aware that we will not retrospectively pay you the arrears accrued by your tenant, the collection of the rent arrears is the sole responsibility of the landlord.

Please also be aware that due to data protection, if we do not have third party authority from your tenant, we cannot discuss whether or not they have a live Housing Benefit claim. If you are unsure as to the status of their claim, submit this form and IF there is a live claim we will act accordingly.

You must submit either a digital photograph, scan or electronic copy of proof of the arrers after submitting this form, if you do not your request shall not be processed. Please email the copy to benefits@peterborough.gov.uk, marking the subject as "8 Weeks Arrears Direct Credit Payment Request" and include your tenant's claim number (if known) or name and address.

Declaration

I agree to accept Housing Benefit payments for the above named tenant. I understand that by law:

  • I must tell you in writing, as soon as possible, if I find out about any changes in the tenant's circumstances;
  • You can stop paying benefit to me if I do not tell you about any change in circumstances;
  • I can be prosecuted if I accept Housing Benefit which I know I am not entitled to; and if the council pay me too much Housing Benefit for any tenant, I must repay it;
  • You can take the amount of overpaid benefit from the benefit I get for any other tenants. This will not affect their rent.
