If your tenant is 8 weeks or more in arrears with their
rent, Regulation 95 of the Housing Benefit Regulations 2006 allows for payment
of Housing Benefit to be made direct to the landlord.
You will need to provide evidence that the tenant is in 8
weeks or more rent arrears. The evidence you provide must prove the total amount of rent arrears outstanding.
We will notify you of our decision as soon as possible.
Please note that if you cannot provide evidence, there will be a delay before a
decision can be made.
Please be aware that we will not retrospectively pay you the
arrears accrued by your tenant, the collection of the rent arrears is the sole
responsibility of the landlord.
Please also be aware that due to data protection, if we do
not have third party authority from your tenant, we cannot discuss whether or
not they have a live Housing Benefit claim. If you are unsure as to the status
of their claim, submit this form and IF
there is a live claim we will act accordingly.
